Local Area Information:
Shepherd's Bush is located in Zone 2 and has 24 hour links to all of London, making it a perfect location for both work and play. There are three main Tube Stations to choose from, the closest being just a minute's walk from the house. Shepherd’s Bush Market and Goldhawk Road are on the Hammersmith and City Line and the Circle Line and Shepherd’s Bush is on the Central Line. Hammersmith Station is about a fifteen minute walk away (or 1 stop on the tube), where you can take the District Line or the Piccadilly Line. There is also an overland train station on Shepherd’s Bush Green, which is around a three minute walk from the house.
There is an extensive network of bus routes from Shepherd’s Bush that take you all around London. Many of them are night buses.
Shopping and Entertainment:
Shepherd’s Bush is the perfect location for shops, restaurants, bars, cafés and pubs. The new Westfield Shopping Centre is the largest city centre shopping centre in Europe (at 2.6million square foot, the equivalent of 45 football pitches). It is located just behind the Central Line and runs parallel to the Green; it contains hundreds of shops and restaurants, including 2 food courts and a 20 screen state-of-the-art multiplex cinema (with almost 3,000 seats).
Inside West 12 Shopping Centre, on the opposite side of the Green from the Central Line tube station, are over 30 shops including high street names and more specialised stores. There is a Lidl Supermarket inside, where you can do your weekly food shop; but there are also branches of Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsburys and Marks & Spencer an easy walk away. Shepherd’s Bush Market is one of the oldest established street markets in London and has fresh fruit and vegetable stalls, fresh meat and fish, clothes and nick nacks.
Shepherd’s Bush also has a local theatre called The Bush Theatre that puts on different small productions each month for a bargain price, some of their shows later move to the West End, London's theatre district . There are also many pubs and bars, fast foot places and restaurants and the O2-Empire music venue for live music is by the Green, 1 minute from the house.
Sport and Exercise:
There are a huge number of gyms and sports centres around Shepherd's Bush. Within West 12 there is a great gym called Fitness First and in Westfield is a large Gym Box gym (including a boxing ring) and a First Light gym which uses light-enhanced exercise to create an innovative fitness experience inside the shopping centre.
There is a large pool hall inside West 12, offering traditional snooker or American pool. There are 2 places with tennis courts both within a 10 minute walk of the house and just a 15 minute walk away there is QPR's stadium (Queens Park Rangers), your local Championship Football Team.
About a 10 minute walk past Shepherd’s Bush Roundabout is one of London’s most beautiful parks, Holland Park, with many lovely areas waiting to be discovered. It also has an outdoor gym area, tennis courts, batting nets and a sports field.
