Local Area Information:

Transport:

Latimer Road Tube station, on the Hammersmith&City and Circle lines is a ten minute walk away. 4 different busses run from bus stops all within a 2 minute walk from the house, including the number 7 which runs into Central London (Oxford Circus) starting at 5:30am.

There is an extensive network of bus routes surrounding the house that take you all around London, some of them are night buses.

Shopping and Entertainment:

There is a selection of local shops at the top of the road for your “emergency supplies” and a huge Sainsbury’s Supermarket where you can do your weekly food shop is a ten minute walk away. Portobello Road Market is also about a ten minute walk from the house. On a Saturday this street is buzzing with stalls selling everything from designer clothes, antiques, food, jewellery and everything you could ever think of. On week days and Sundays there are fresh fruit and vegetable stores willing to make bargains, especially at the end of the day to get rid of their produce. There are great boutique shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs along Portobello Road and in all the small side roads surrounding it. On Portobello Road is the Electric Cinema, a unique and exciting cinema with large chairs and sofas to watch films in style.

The choice of restaurants, bars and pubs is overwhelming, there is a option to suit every budget and taste, covering all local and international styles of cuisine.

The Canal is just short walk away. If you turn left on the Canal, you will find peace and quiet, if you turn right you will get to little Venice and then to Regents Park, London Zoo, Lords Cricket Ground and even to Camden, where there is a huge (and slightly bizarre) market on Sundays. There are also some lovely pubs along the Canal, some with gardens on the water.

Jump on the number 7 bus and in eight minutes you'll be in Queensway where there are great shops, restaurants and cafés. There is a bowling alley and an ice rink at the top of the main road as well as the entrance to the beautiful Hyde Park & Kensington Gardens, two of London’s largest parks. At the other end of Queensway you will find a swimming pool and Spa called Porchester Spa - London's oldest spa (built in 1929).

Sport and Exercise:

There are at least 5 sports centres within 15 minutes of the house: Westway Sports & Fitness Centre, with indoor/outdoor climbing, tennis, football, fives, basketball, netball, crickets nets and a 100 piece gym; Kensington Leisure Centre with 3 different pools, indoor court sports hall, coffee shop and gym; Westway Portobello Fitness Club with a gym, weights room and fitness classrooms, Canalside Activity Centre that offers activities such as kayaking in the canal; Moberly Sports Centre reopened in 2018 and has two pools, a 120-station gym and two Group Fitness studios, a large eight-court sports hall where you can enjoy a variety of activities, a spa and a bespoke gymnastics area, alongside a range of other facilities.
